Obama’s British Visitor

Looks like the “special partnership” is intact: Downing Street has announced that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will visit the White House in less than two weeks. The March 3 meeting will be the first time Obama and Brown have spoken face-to-face since Obama’s election. In a statement, the White House said the president wants to work with Brown on “common global challenges”—including the global financial crisis and the war in Afghanistan. Brown will be the second foreign leader to visit the Obama White House: Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso is scheduled to arrive Tuesday.
