Obama Picks Kagan for Supreme Court

President Obama made official his selection of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to replace John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court on Monday. He called her a “trailblazing leader” and hailed her “fair-mindedness and skill as a consensus builder,” noting that “her passion for the law is anything but academic.” In a carefully worded statement, Kagan thanked Obama and announced “law matters.”
