Obama PAC Rips Mitt’s Gay Marriage Quip

Mitt Romney’s speech at CPAC was filled with anecdotes intended to reassure audience members that he is “severely conservative.” One of which was claiming that, as governor, he fought to keep Massachusetts from becoming “the Las Vegas of gay marriage.” A pro-Obama super PAC shot back at the Republican presidential candidate for this comment, declaring that “Mitt Romney’s rehearsed statement comes from a hateful politics of the past that aims to arouse to the prejudices of a few by demeaning the relationships of millions of gay Americans. Unfortunately for Romney, a desperate campaign based on divisive demagoguery is beneath most American voters who instead want their President focused on a stronger economy and better future for all,” Priorities Action USA senior strategist Bill Burton wrote in a statement. He then noted, “Incidentally, gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts and from best I can tell, it still doesn’t seem anything like Las Vegas.”
