Obama: ‘Occupy’ Similar to Tea Party

Apparently, the Internet isn’t the only place where the overlap between the messages of the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street has been noticed: “In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party,” President Obama said at an appearance on Tuesday. “Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them.” His administration has embraced Occupy Wall Street from a distance, hoping the movement’s energy might reenergize his progressive base. Meanwhile, an activist who helped start Egypt's "Facebook" revolution is now an adviser to the Occupy Wall Street protesters.
