Obama Not an Apple Fan

The president may be a BlackBerry fan, but gadgets and social media have a dark side too, the president warned Sunday. "With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations—none of which I know how to work—information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said in a commencement speech at Hampton University in Virginia. Education, he told the students, is their best tool in learning to separate Internet rumors from fact. "Let's face it—even some of the craziest claims can quickly gain traction," Obama said. "I've had some experience with that myself. Fortunately, you'll be well positioned to navigate this terrain."
