Obama Makes Surprise Trip to Afghanistan

Do you think Afghan President Hamid Karzai was happy to see him? President Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on Friday. His plans were tightly guarded, though he met with Karzai (via video hook-up due to inclement weather), awarded Purple Hearts at a military hospital, and bucked the spirits of the serving troops. "On behalf of me—on behalf of Michelle—on behalf of Malia and Sasha—on behalf of more than 300 million Americans—we are here to say thank you," the President told them. In a few weeks, President Obama will receive a report about whether his Afghan surge is working.
