Obama: GOP Will Cut Education

President Obama warned that Republicans will cut education funding and endanger the limping economy if they take control of Congress, again using his weekly radio address Saturday to hit back against Republicans surging in the polls. But the president said he won’t compromise on education, because a well-educated workforce is key to a strong economy in the future. Obama announced a new public-private partnership to help graduates of community colleges get jobs in business, plus a first-ever White House summit on the state of such colleges. Republicans fired back that Obama has broken promises on the economy, health care, and jobs. Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) noted the high unemployment rate, and said Obama’s plan to let some of the Bush tax cuts expire would cost more jobs.
