Obama, DNC Raise $86 Million

The Obama machine has quite the leg up: The president’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $86 million between April and June, exceeding their goal of $60 million. The number is nearly triple the money raised by the GOP candidates so far: Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich raised a total of $33.1 million for their GOP primary efforts. In announcing the fundraising haul, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina nevertheless worried about GOP money: “GOP outside spending for 2012 could be as much as $500 million,” he said.
