Obama Campaign Paying Attention to Santorum

In perhaps a sign of the legitimacy of Rick Santorum’s rise in the GOP primary race, Mitt Romney is no longer the sole focus of the Obama reelection campaign’s attention. Team Obama issued a memo Tuesday criticizing the economic plans of both Romney and Santorum, the Republican frontrunners. “Even if Santorum achieves nearly a trillion dollars a year in savings, nearly all of those savings would be needed to finance Santorum’s tax cuts, leaving little or nothing for deficit reduction,” writes the campaign policy director in the memo.
