Obama Announces $10 Million in Syria Aid

The situation in Syria, President Obama declared Thursday, has reached a “critical juncture.” Alongside United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Obama announced that, as it doesn’t look like President Bashar al-Assad will relinquish power any time soon, the United States will devote $10 million to providing Syrian rebels and civilians with food and medical supplies. The aid is part of a $60 million assistance package that Secretary of State John Kerry promised to the rebels in February.
