NYC To Demolish 100s of Homes

Three weeks later, Hurricane Sandy is still taking its toll. New York City has said that it will have to bulldoze about 200 homes damaged by the storm in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The buildings were judged to be a danger to the public and other nearby structures. About 500 more damaged sites are still being inspected by the buildings department. “We’ve never had this scale before,” said Robert L. LiMandri, buildings department commissioner.
