North Korea to Send 230 Cheerleaders to Olympics

North Korean athletes will reportedly arrive at the Winter Olympics with 230 cheerleaders in tow, according to officials in Seoul who have held talks with the reclusive nation in anticipation of the event. The games will take place next month in in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Meanwhile, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono called the use of such tactics a “charm offensive” and warned other leaders to be skeptical. “It is not the time to ease pressure, or to reward North Korea,” he said. “The fact that North Korea is engaging in dialogue could be interpreted as proof that the sanctions are working.”
