Nintendo President Dies of Cancer at 55

Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata died of cancer, the videogame company said Monday. He was 55. Iwata passed away Saturday “due to a bile duct growth,” according to a company statement. Iwata became president of the company in 2002, overseeing the release of the Wii and Nintendo DS game consoles. He took leave last year for surgery, but had told executives the illness had been discovered at an early stage.
