Nigeria Rejects Prisoner Swap for Girls

Nigerian Interior Minister Abba Moro said Monday that his country would not exchange militant prisoners for the 200-plus schoolgirls who were abducted last month. In a video released Monday, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said he would consider returning the girls in a swap for jailed Islamic militants. Although the Nigerian government had previously said all options were on the table to rescue the kidnapped girls, Moro told the BBC: “As far as this government is concerned, the option of [the] swap of innocent citizens with people who have taken arms against the country… is not on the table.”
