With a penchant for painting naked women, it’s fitting for the French President’s father to paint his daughter-in-law Carla Bruni. Pal Sarkozy is selling a series of paintings featuring the former model for nearly $11,000 each at an elite Parisian gallery. Though critics have previously panned the elder Sarkozy’s surreal paintings, as the father of the President and considering his infamous subject, Pal’s colossal canvases will be displayed at the Espace Pierre Cardin gallery in Paris in April. The centerpiece of the exhibition features Bruni, a former singer, strumming a guitar while seated atop a piano as her husband sits looking on in the reflection of the concert grand. The work was a wedding gift for Bruni, who Pal said he attributes to ending years of estrangement between him and his President son.
