Newt Leading Romney in South Carolina

Newt Gingrich is leading Mitt Romney in South Carolina polls, according to Public Policy Polling tracking. While Romney's support remains steady, Gingrich's is rising, going from 23 percent to 34 percent in the past two weeks. The Tea Party darling has a 50–18 advantage over Romney when it comes to support from the Republican branch, a 39–23 lead with "very conservative voters," and a 37–20 advantage among evangelicals. It will be interesting to see whether his popularity among these groups of voters will slip following his ex-wife's revelation that Newt wanted an open marriage.
