Disney is developing a new musical for its classic Mary Poppins, Entertainment Weekly reported on Monday. Rob Marshall, who directed live action hit Into the Woods, has been tapped to direct. The new flick is expected to be set in London 20 years after the first film and use storylines from the P.L. Travers' children's books based on the magical nanny and the Banks family. Disney has benefited from reworking its classic animated films including Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella into live action films.
