New Incest Case Disturbs Austria

Austrian police have arrested an 80-year-old man who is suspected of imprisoning and sexually abusing his two daughters for more than 40 years. The incest case was reported in May, when the daughters escaped after one allegedly knocked her father down as he tried to rape her. Police say that both women, now 53 and 45, were found to have “mental deficiencies” and reportedly had limited contact with the outside world. Austrians are shaken up by the news, which is eerily reminiscent of another incest case from 2009, when Josef Fritzl was sentenced to life in jail for imprisoning his daughter and fathering seven of her children.
