New App Lets Users Yelp Review People

A controversial app launching later this year is opening up everyone to online scrutiny by allowing users to rate and review people, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday. Billed as a Yelp for humans, Peeple allows users to assign a number of stars between one and five to any person as long as you have his or her phone number. But the catch is there's no opt-out, and once a name is in the system it can't be removed. The app posts positive ratings instantly while negative reviews are placed in a queue to allow for disputes. If the person isn't registered for the site, only the positive reviews appear online. Peeple also plans to include a list of topics that are off limits for ratings, including cursing, sexism and discussion of health conditions.
