Death to DVD

Netflix Introduces New Prices

Now that Netflix has officially beaten Blockbuster, the company is taking the next step toward eliminating DVDs. Netflix announced Monday that it will now offer streaming-only prices, allowing users to pay a lower rate for access to the company's popular movie streaming website as long as they aren't getting any DVDs in the mail. The streaming-only service will cost $7.99 per month, while the rate for its one-at-a-time DVD-by-mail service will increase from $8.99 to $9.99. Earlier this year, Netflix signed a $1 billion deal with Paramount Pictures, MGM, and Lionsgate to expand its archives of movies and television available for streaming.
