Netanyahu: We Have Proof Iran Was ‘Brazenly Lying’ About Nukes

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday claimed that Israel has a cache of files proving Iran sought to build nuclear weapons. In an address to the nation, Netanyahu said the documents from Project Amad show the Iranians “had 5 key elements of nuclear weapons program” and that the country was “brazenly lying when it said it never had a nuclear program.” He also said in remarks that the desire to preserve the information after they were “forced to shelve” the project during the Gulf War “came directly from Iran’s top leadership.” The Prime Minister said that the Iran Deal was “based on Iranian lies and Iranian deception,” and said it was a “terrible deal” that “should have never been concluded.” Netanyahu then appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that he was “sure he’ll do the right thing...the right thing for the U.S., Israel, and the peace of the world.” The International Atomic Energy Agency flagged “Amad plan” project in 2011, and said it “stopped rather abruptly by Tehran in late 2003.” The IAEA was concerned that the projects may have been resuming that year, according to The Guardian.
