Netanyahu Warns: Arabs Are Voting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on election day that a large turnout by Arab voters could endanger the country’s political right. “The right-wing government is in danger. Arab voters are coming out in droves to the polls. Left-wing organizations are busing them out,” Netanyahu said in a video recently uploaded to his Facebook page. Netanyahu proceeded to be denounced by Israeli candidates. “A prime minister who campaigns against voting by citizens belonging to an ethnic minority is crossing a red line of incitement and racism. This is especially severe on Election Day, when the message to Israeli citizens is to participate in the elections, vote, and take part in the democratic system,” said Joint List candidate Dov Khenin. Meretz party Chairwoman Zehava Galon also sharply criticized Netanyahu: “Serious warning: Israeli citizens are voting in the elections.” Netanyahu also called a press conference for later in the day, which was blocked by the election committee for violating campaign rules.
