As a result of a four-year investigation into the USC football team, the NCAA has slapped a two-year ban on the team’s bowl game invitations, a ruling that could cost the university millions of dollars and future recruits. The school came under scrutiny after reports came out that Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and basketball guard O.J. Mayo had taken gifts from agents and commercial marketers. Although Bush, who now plays for the New Orleans Saints, says he didn’t do anything wrong and has promised to cooperate, officials claim he hasn’t done so in the past. The team will also lose 10 scholarships a season for three seasons, and must give up all 12 victories from their 2005 season.
