NBA Cancels Season’s First Weeks

Well, so much for hating LeBron James this year. As talks between owners and players stall, NBA Commissioner David Stern canceled the first two weeks of the season. After seven hours of negotiations Monday, Stern said the sides are still “very far apart on virtually all issues.” Trimming the season, if a deal is reached eventually, will undoubtedly hurt the league's TV ratings, which surged last year as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the controversial Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. All games through Nov. 14 have been canceled.
