Nazi Garb Used in Israel Protests

Politicians and representatives of Holocaust survivors denounced Sunday protests in Israel that saw ultra-Orthodox Jews wearing uniforms associated with concentration camps and reenacting scenes of Holocaust horror. The protests were a reaction to the growing criticism of ultra-Orthodox attempts to impose theocratic demands on Israeli society, including strict separation of men and women. Ultra-orthodox Jews make up about 10 percent of Israel’s population, and have become increasingly aggressive in the belief that their way of life is under attack.
