Is it too soon to say “coverup”? Two more raunchy videos by a top officer aboard the USS Enterprise have surfaced, raising questions about whether superior officers knew of then-Executive Officer Owen Honors’ activities. Relieved of his command Tuesday, Honors created a video called XO Movie Night that included homophobic slurs, simulated masturbation and sexually themed shower scenes—then showed it to the 6,000 men and women abroad the Enterprise in 2006 and 2007. Although The Virginian-Pilot newspaper report that led to his dismissal featured only one greatest-hits video, the Navy Times reports that at least two more videos were also made. And one identifies a member of the carrier strike group admiral’s staff, raising questions of whether the ship’s leadership knew about their production. Meanwhile, Honors has insisted the shipboard and strike group leadership had no idea the videos were being produced and broadcast.
