Navy Gives Sleepover Sailor a Break

Maybe he’ll think twice about slumber parties now: The Navy said on Friday that it will not discharge a sailor initially charged with “unprofessional conduct” for falling asleep in the bed of another male sailor, according to a gay advocacy group. The charges against Petty Officer Stephen Jones were believed to be trumped-up claims by commanders who suspected he was gay but wanted to work around the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. For the record, Jones has said he had simply fallen asleep after staying up to watch the CW show Vampire Diaries with a friend.
