"Natural Disaster" Status for Baja Quake?

In the wake of Sunday’s 7.2-magnitude earthquake, the governor of Mexico's Baja California region has requested natural-disaster status from the federal government. The quake left two people dead in Baja’s capital—the border city Mexicali—put 10 more in critical condition, and has caused major damages to buildings in the area. It was the biggest earthquake in the area since 1992, and authorities are expecting minor aftershocks in the coming days.
