Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will deliver the Democrats’ response to President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night Oval Office address to the nation about funding the proposed border wall. The House speaker and Senate minority leader have spearheaded Democratic negotiations with Trump’s administration amid a partial government shutdown that has now become the second longest on record. Pelosi and Schumer will give their response from the speaker’s balcony in the U.S. Capitol building after Trump’s televised 9 p.m. ET address has finished. The partial shutdown has stretched into its 18th day, with no end in sight. Trump is demanding more than $5 billion to go toward the construction of a border wall, while Democrats are refusing to allocate any money for the project.
