Special counsel Robert Mueller wants to interview Russian pop star and real-estate mogul Emin Agalarov, his lawyer told NBC News. Agalarov had a hand in setting up the 2016 meeting between Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and Donald Trump Jr., who was under the impression the meeting would result in the Trump campaign receiving incriminating information on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Agalarov told Vice News that his father instructed him to reach out to Trump Jr. about the meeting with Veselnitskaya, and that President Trump’s son immediately agreed to take it—contradicting his testimony to Congress. Agalarov, who released a music video poking fun at his alleged involvement in the 2016 election, also said he did not remember who first requested his father’s help in setting up the meeting. Veselnitskaya was recently revealed to have closer ties to the Russian government than what was previously known. President Trump denied having any advance knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting, although his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, claimed to be present when Trump was briefed about the meeting before it happened.
