Mueller Asked to Interview Ex-Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente: Report
Special counsel Robert Mueller asked for an interview with former deputy attorney general Dana Boente as part of his probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. A letter obtained by Maddow shows that Boente wrote to Associate Deputy Attorney General Scott Schools about Mueller’s request. “The requested interview concerns activities occurring within the bounds and scope of my duties at the Department of Justice. I have no reason to believe that I am the subject or the target of the investigation,” he wrote. Boente is currently the acting assistant attorney general of the National Security Division.
