Muammar Gaddafi Strikes Back at Eastern Libya

The old dictator still has some life in him: Muammar Gaddafi’s forces have struck back against rebels and recaptured the northwestern towns of Gharyan and Sabratha, while also temporarily holding the eastern town of Brega before losing it again. Gaddafi is also working to retake towns near Tripoli, his seat of power. Rebel leaders are now considering asking for UN airstrikes to help unseat Gaddafi; there is no indication however, that the UN security council would oblige the request.
