Graffiti’s First Lady

Mrs. Banksy Revealed?

We may not know the identity of Banksy, but if a report by The Daily Mail is to be believed, we now have a picture of his wife. The newspaper reports that the wife of the anonymous graffiti artist is a parliamentary lobbyist named Joy Millward, and has published a picture of her working on a laptop during the National Hepatitis C Conference in April 2007. Millward is believed to have met Banksy (whose real name is Robin Gunningham) in 2003, before she began working as a researcher for Labour MP Austin Mitchell. Banksy, whose film Exit Through the Gift Shop was nominated for an Academy Award, reportedly married Millward in Las Vegas in January 2006. “Some of Joy’s relatives have not been told who her husband is or what he does,” a source told The Daily Mail. “Joy does tell people her husband is an artist of some type. She says he does the artwork for cookbooks and album covers. Banksy has told people he designs the sets for award ceremonies, which explains his frequent absences.”
