While the Golden Globe winners would likely disagree, today, January 17, may be the most depressing day of the year—if a British psychologist is to be believed. Using a complex happiness equation, psychologist Cliff Arnall has deduced that because of the toxic combination of depressing weather, mounting holiday debt, and failed New Year’s resolutions, the third Monday of January (today!) is the saddest day of 2011. The day is being called “Blue Monday,” and made Twitter’s list of trending topics. Using the same complicated equation, Arnall claims that June 17 is poised to be the happiest day of 2011. Ladies and gentleman, set your wedding dates accordingly.
