Moscow urged global action to combat online crime following another massive international cyberattack on Tuesday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said such breaches highlight the need for coordinated international action against the attacks. Notably, Tuesday’s global event caused no significant problems at either the state or corporate level in Russia. Peskov told reporters that he had no information about the cause of the breach. Officials believe the hack first targeted Ukraine before it caused havoc at companies in France, Australia, and elsewhere around the globe. Russia is notorious for being the home of the world’s most prolific hackers and online fraudsters, and state-sponsored actors are suspected in numerous devastating attacks on Ukraine’s networks.
