Morsi Put Under House Arrest

Muslim Brotherhood leadership has confirmed to CNN that President Mohamed Morsi has been placed under “house arrest,” along with his presidential team. Earlier, President Barack Obama called on the country’s military to quickly turn power over “to a democratically elected civilian government.” Obama stopped short of calling it a coup, but said he is “deeply concerned” with the events that unfolded. “I now call on the Egyptian military ... to avoid any arbitrary arrests of President Morsi and his supporters,” Obama said, and urged all sides to resolve the conflict peacefully.
