More Whites Died Than Born in 2012

More white people died last year than were born, according to new population estimates from the Census Bureau, the first time since it began recording that the group saw such a slump. Caucasians lost about 12,400 among their 198 million in 2012, and data crunchers expect the trend to continue. Researchers contribute the drop to an aging population, a slow economy, and delayed childbearing by white women. It’s the latest in a string of bad news for white guys: last year the census said more of the country’s babies were born to minorities and projected an end of the white majority in 2043.
