Middle Class Poorer After Recovery

America’s middle class is worse off financially now than it was the year before the Great Recession began, according to the Census Bureau. Real median income for middle-class families is now 6.5 percent less than than it was in 2007. The report also says median income for non-Hispanic whites has decreased 1.7 percent between 2013 and 2014. Real median income adjusted for inflation peaked in 1999 at $57,800.
