Meghan McCain took to Twitter Sunday to decry conservative commentator Michelle Malkin for criticizing her father, the late senator John McCain, during a fiery speech at CPAC that received a standing ovation. In response to a conservative commentator praising the dialogue at CPAC, McCain lashed out at the “propaganda” that invoked her father. “I care that ‘the ghost’ of my beloved father was used as ghoulish and deeply disturbed political propaganda on CPAC’s stage, but hey maybe that’s just me,” McCain wrote Sunday. McCain’s comments referenced a speech from right-wing pundit Michelle Malkin, who blamed conservative leaders for the presence of sanctuary cities. “I’m looking at you, retired Paul Ryan. And yes, I’m looking at you, Mitch McConnell! And yes, I’m looking at you, Bush family!” Malkin said at the conference, before pausing briefly and pointing up at the roof and continuing: “And yes, I’m looking at you, the ghost of John McCain!” Malkin’s comments received a standing ovation.
