Marc Glimcher Discusses Pace's Future After Wildenstein Split.

After parting company with Wildenstein & Co., the Pace Gallery is taking major steps to reinvent itself. First, it is conquering a new space on 25th Street (currently occupied by the Bortolami Gallery). Pace is also hiring Vitz Zaman, an artist and former director of London's Ibid Gallery, to handle Pace's Chelsea space. And it is adding London-based Middle East expert and former Phillips de Pury specialist Tamara Corm to its roster. “What it means to be an art collector, or an artist, is in flux, and that’s fantastic,” Pace President Marc Glimcher told ArtInfo. “Over the last decade, we’ve seen the whole “what does it mean to be an art gallery?” question come up. The answer, for a lot of innovative people, has been a franchise, a brand.”
