Protests of the jail conditions of Pfc. Bradley Manning have produced good results, his lawyer says. Manning, who is accused of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, was being held in solitary confinement and forced to sleep naked without bedding in the brig at a marine base in Quantico, Virginia. After noisy protests—including one from a State Department spokesman who was forced to resign—Manning was moved to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, on April 20. His attorney now says he has a window and bedding, and has been allowed to have some personal effects.
