Man Dies in Jail as Cameras Roll

New video shows a man dying in jail of what his attorney says was benzodiazepine withdrawal—all over a $772 unpaid ticket that turned into an obstruction of justice charge. David Stojcevski's family said he lost 50 pounds as a camera watched him under the jail's suicide watch program. “This is shameful, substantial and unconscionable neglect,” the family's lawyer said of the June 2014 death. Stojcevski's medications were listed on his intake form, the family says, and he was moved between the jail and a mental health unit several times. A nurse suggested Stojcevski be placed in a detox clinic but instead went to jail.
