After arguing with his passenger, Benjamin Golden, over directions, Uber driver Edward Caban decided to pull over and kick the allegedly drunk Golden out of his car. Dashcam footage posted by Caban shows Golden protest and ask him to continue to his destination in tony Newport Beach, California.
“Get out of my car or I will call the police,” warns Caban.
Golden replies by punching and slapping Caban from the back seat. Caban, prepared, pepper-sprays Golden and calls the police.
Golden was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a taxicab operator and public intoxication. Uber officials have also banned him from using their service.
A shaken Caban told local news station KNBC-TV, “I don’t feel safe driving for Uber any more. The quality of the passengers has gone down over the last couple of weeks, and I know a lot of drivers will agree with me.”
