Maldives VP Accused of Assassination Bid

The vice president of Maldives was arrested Saturday after being accused of trying to assassinate President Abdullah Yameen in a speedboat explosion, according to officials who spoke to Reuters. The president was unhurt in the explosion, which took place Sept. 28, but his wife and two aides were injured. The vice president, Ahmed Adheeb, has been arrested and three Maldives National Defense Force officials have been detained.
