Malaysia is releasing for the first time to the public its preliminary report on the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. According to the document, officials did not notice for 17 minutes that the flight had gone off radar. Perhaps even more importantly, they did not activate official rescue operations for another four hours. Meanwhile, the airline is defending its claim that it found the plane wreckage, is closing its support centers, and telling relatives to return home. The government is releasing the report after it faced criticism from victims' families who were kept from seeing it.
