A major Mexican politician’s car has been found with signs of violence, leading many to fear that he has been kidnapped. Diego Fernandez de Cevallos, 69, is a member of Mexican President Felipe Calderon's National Action Party, and has been missing since Friday. Fernandez de Cevallos’ car was found near his ranch in Queretaro, in the center of the country, with some personal belongings. Authorities could not confirm that he is dead or if his disappearance had something to do with drug gangs. The Mexican government is trying to crack down on drug trafficking, and the drug lords have responded violently with kidnappings and killings. In the lead-up to state elections, several local politicians have been killed.
