Macau Gangster ‘Broken Tooth’ Freed

A legendary Macau gangster was released on Saturday after nearly 15 years in prison. "Broken Tooth," who was convicted of criminal association, loan-sharking, and illegal gambling in 1999, was the head of a major gang that was involved in turf wars for control of the region's legendary casinos. But times have changed. Shortly after the kingpin was imprisoned, Portugal ceded control of the special administrative region to China, and since then internationally owned mega-casinos have superseded local establishments. The old days probably won't be back any time soon.
