Lebanon Braces for Anti-Assad Rally

Beirut braced for demonstrations Sunday to coincide with the funeral for a critic of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Lebanese security chief Wissam al-Hassan died along with two others in a car bombing Friday that has been blamed on Assad’s regime. Fears in Lebanon have spread that the violence that has plagued Syria for 18 months could spill over into the neighboring country, and police presence was high in Beirut on Sunday as officials prepared for al-Hassan’s funeral.
