Knox Faces Defamation Trial

Amanda Knox, the American student who was sentenced to 26 years in prison for killing her British roommate while abroad, will be back in court. This time Knox will face defamation charges involving the Italian police, whom she accused of beating her during their investigation. The new trial—independent of the murder charge, which she is appealing—will start up this spring. In 2007, Meredith Kercher was found dead in the home she shared with Knox in the university town of Perugia.
