Kim Jong-un Named Head of Army

Kim Jong-un has been named the Supreme Commander of the North Korean Army, officials announced Saturday. Kim was officially given the title at a Politburo meeting on Friday, the day after the country warned that there would be no change in its hardline policy with South Korea. It’s the first official title given to North Korea’s new leader, in a move some believe shows that Kim will keep in place his “military first” policy. It is considered likely that Kim will also take control of the other top titles, such as general secretary of the party and chairman of the National Defense Commission.
